Diamine Monboddo’s Hat on Tsubame

Ink

In 2019, the Fountain Pens UK Facebook group collaborated with Diamine to create two inks, Scribble Purple and Monboddo’s Hat. The inks are named after Scribble Monboddo, a purple ink lover who runs the Too Many Purples blog. Monboddo’s Hat is a ink colour inspired by Scribble Monboddo’s purple top hat.

The ink is a saturated dark purple with red undertones with a wet flow. At no surprise to anyone, it has the most sheen on Tomoe River paper. The official description calls it a gold sheen but it looks a little greenish to me. On Fools paper, there is a little sheen, a tiny bit of feathering and no bleedthrough.

Colour residue left in pen barrel after cleaning

The ink left a ring of colour residue behind so cleaning is more involved than usual.

Closer look at the sheen

Below are a couple of photos of how it looks when it is written on both sides of the paper.
