Ink
Lennon Tool Bar is a Taiwanese company founded in 2014. Their focus is on producing and promoting the craft of indigo dying. Then they started producing fountain pen inks, and were known for their beautiful blue inks.
Ganlan is an ink from Lennon Tool Bar’s Indigo Series. On Shigure Inks website, it is described as a dark blue colour mixed with a tinge of reddish shade. Based on the description, you might think the ink leans a little purple because red + blue = purple. I didn’t notice any red or purple in normal writing, but the ink is less blue than some other blue inks. This is a lovely colour which (in my opinion) looks better on white-coloured papers.
In writing, this dark grey-blue ink has a wet flow. On Leuchtturm1917 paper, there is shading, no sheen, no feathering and some bleedthrough.

What a lovely color blue. My go-to blue is Waterman Serenity Blue but it is just blue. Unfortunately, it is difficult finding Lennon Tool Bar ink in the US. I did find a distributor (Yoseka Stationary). They do not have this color line but they do have Kon-ai which appears similar in color. I need to review Shigure Inks – thanks.

Hi Danny,
If you are ordering from Shigure Inks, you can get a sample instead of a whole bottle to try out the ink first. What I like is that I can choose how much ink I want in the sample (1 to 5 ml). Ordering samples is through a simple online form so it helps to have a list ready before you start filling it in. I had to check back with them after not receiving an invoice after a few weeks but apart from that, they are pretty responsive.
