Pure Pens Westgate Hotel on Midori MD

Ink

For Pure Pens’ 17th Anniversary in 2021, they commissioned Diamine to make three sheening inks which they are calling The Chartist Inks. They are available individually on Pure Pens website so if you only like one of the colours, you don’t have to buy the whole set.

Pure Pens also had some fun with the bottle labels. On one side, the three bottles form the shield of the City of Newport.

Then if you turn to the other side, they show a section of the Chartist Mosiac Mural.

Today I am trying the second ink in the lineup – Westgate Hotel. This is a bright blue ink with a wet flow. It’s my favourite colour out of the set.

This ink didn’t stain the pen barrel but I need to spend a little more time flushing the pen as the ink tends to stick and linger in the feed. There is also a very faint line of colour residue which was easily scrubbed away using a cotton bud.

On Midori MD paper,

  • Shading: Yes
  • Sheen: Yes
  • Feathering: Nil
  • Bleedthrough: Nil

I really enjoy inks that produce shading. The shading produced by this ink is impressive.
