Pure Pens John Frost on Midori MD

Ink

For Pure Pens’ 17th Anniversary in 2021, they commissioned Diamine to make three sheening inks which they are calling The Chartist Inks. They are available individually on Pure Pens website so if you only like one of the colours, you don’t have to buy the whole set.

Pure Pens also had some fun with the bottle labels. On one side, the three bottles form the shield of the City of Newport.

Then if you turn to the other side, they show a section of the Chartist Mosiac Mural.

Today I am trying the second ink in the lineup – John Frost. This is a medium green ink which sheens red. It has an average flow.

This ink stained the pen barrel purple. I find it really hard to clean it out of the pen. Even after using a pen flush a few times and a cotton bud to gently scrub at the stain, you can still see a pale purple stain. Better avoid putting this ink in a demonstrator pen.

On Midori MD paper,

  • Shading: Nil
  • Sheen: Yes
  • Feathering: Nil
  • Bleedthrough: Nil
