Dominant Industry Royal Azalea on Muji Planting Tree

Ink

Royal Azalea is a fuschia pink ink with an average flow.

Initially I thought Royal Azalea is the name of a flower, but when I googled, the flower (Rhododendron schlippenbachii) that turned up is a very, very pale pink. Totally unlike the ink colour.

If the ink name is not referring to a particular flower, then what does it refer to? One theory is that it refers to the azalea flowers found on the Royal Azalea Hill located in Gyeonggi province in South Korea. Or it could refer to the Gunpo Royal Azalea Festival typically held in late April at the Royal Azalea Hill. The colour of the azaleas blooming on the hill is a closer match to ink, in my opinion. Not only that, Dominant Industry is also located in Gyeonggi province, although in a different city.

A bit of a stretch? Maybe, but it was fun trying to figure it out.

On Midori MD paper,

  • Shading: Yes
  • Sheen: Nil
  • Feathering: Some
  • Bleedthrough: Little
