Traveler’s Company Stamp Caravan at Cityluxe

Traveler’s Company Stamp Caravan event came to Singapore this year (Instagram link). The event would be held at a different shop each week. There are six shops on the list, so it will be over six weeks.

Last week, I visited the Traveler’s Company Stamp Caravan event at Cityluxe. It was my first time attending such an event so I picked an unused notebook to bring with me. This notebook will be dedicated to collecting stamps from now on.

Door to the lift

Cityluxe is located in an industrial building (Google Maps link). The ground floor is mainly taken up by the loading/unloading bay and warehouse so look for a small door on the left (when you are facing the building) to take the lift up to the 5th floor.

Cityluxe entrance

Once you exit the lift on the 5th floor, the Cityluxe entrance is on your right. I thought that because Cityluxe was located in an industrial area and fairly out of the way, there might be less people turning up. I was wrong.

There was still a good number of people visiting the shop. Not packed like sardines but enough that you had to maneuver around other people. The shop employees told me that some customers came back on multiple days to hang out and chit-chat.

Traveler's Company self-inking stamps

On a table near the entrance were Traveler’s Company official stamps for the event. These were self-inking so they were easy to use and I didn’t have to press hard or hold them down for a long time.

Cityluxe stamps

On another table further in were Cityluxe’s own stamps. Some were the shop stamps and some were stamps they made especially for this event. Most were self-inking except for one huge stamp that was 8 cm in diameter. You can see a close up of the stamp on Cityluxe’s Instagram post.

Event stickers

The employees told me the official Traveler’s Company stickers were fully redeemed on the first day. In anticipation of that and to prevent customers from going back disappointed, the shop prepared their own stickers that you could redeem with every $10 spending. An employee told me the most popular sticker was the otter sticker.

Traveler's Company notebooks on display

Besides the stamps, there was also a mini exhibition of Cityluxe customers’ notebooks. Some still looked fairly new while others were lovingly used. You could pick them up and flip through them. There were some beautifully decorated ones.

Traveler's Company charm collection

A Cityluxe customer also displayed their Traveler’s Company charm collection. I thought the Taiwan beer charm was really cute. It even came with a bottle opener!

Some people came with a friend but there were also quite a few who came alone, like me. Cityluxe’s employees were friendly and welcoming which helped to put me at ease. One employee was really happy (even happier than me) when she realised I had bought enough to receive the free event postcard. She enthusiastically led me to the stamp table, so I could stamp the postcard and keep it as a memento.

I spent under an hour at the event. I had fun and was glad that I made the effort to go down to Cityluxe. It’s a pity there’s no Singapore-related stickers like when the stamp caravan went to Malaysia. Maybe next time?
