Bird Monster is from Lennon Tool Bar’s All Kinds of Spirits series which focused on the well-known spirits from Taiwan’s folklore.
Legend has it that in Yingge, northern Taiwan, there was a malevolent bird monster lurking in the mountains, spewing mist and preying on humans. It met its demise when it was struck down by cannon from Zheng Chenggong’s army. As its severed head fell, it transformed into a colossal stone at the mountaintop.
Description from Lennon Tool Bar
According to legends, the bird monster is said to look like a giant parrot. There is a parrot-shaped rock in Yingge which is believed to be the colossal stone that the bird monster turned into. I tried to search for photos of the rock and all I can say is that you need a lot of imagination to see it as a bird-shaped rock.
