Taccia Navy Blue Jeans on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

In 2020, Taccia launched the Jeans collection, a range of inks inspired by the colour of jeans. This is the Navy Blue Jeans ink from the collection.

The ink is a medium shade of blue with a slight teal undertone. The ink has a wet flow and I enjoy writing with it. I think this is a lovely shade of blue that really resembles the colour of blue denim. On Freiheit paper, there is shading and no noticeable sheen. I did not notice any feathering. There is a some bleedthough in the title but none in normal writing.

Taccia Black Jeans on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

In 2020, Taccia launched the Jeans collection, a range of inks inspired by the colour of jeans. This is the Black Jeans ink from the collection.

This is a black ink which shades from dark grey to black. I do like my black inks to be dark and black. I tried to see if there was sheen in the writing, like the other inks in the Jeans collection. However, the ink was so dark that it was hard to tell whether there was any sheen. There is no feathering and only a tiny bit of bleedthrough in the title.

Monteverde Fireopal on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

Monteverde Fireopal is a fiery orange. The ink has an average flow. At first glance, it looks similar to Vinta Terracotta, but on closer inspection, there are differences in the shade and saturation. The colour makes me think of a fiery sunset.

On the WORLD CRAFT Freiheit notepad, there is shading and no sheen. There are very tiny spots of bleedthrough in the print heading and none in normal writing.

Monteverde Sapphire on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

Monteverde Sapphire is a vibrant blue. It shades beautifully and has a wet flow. There is the tiniest bit of sheen in the darker areas where the ink had pooled, it is not obvious unless you are looking really hard.

There is a tiny bit of feathering on this paper and a lot of bleedthrough on this paper with this ink.

Monteverde Garnet on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

Monteverde Garnet is a lovely magenta with some shading. Like the rest of the Monteverde inks I’ve written with, it flows smoothly and I didn’t experience any problems with the ink.

On this paper, there is a bit of bleed through at the ends of the letters where the ink had pooled. I didn’t noticed any feathering.

Paper

WORLD CRAFT is a Japanese brand. I am using the Freiheit Freestyle Grid Notepad. WORLD CRAFT also makes this paper in a notebook format.

It is 21cm x 12.8cm, which makes it the same height as A5 but thinner. The page is marked on front and blank on the back. The front of the page is divided into 5mm grid made up of brown dots. Two thin brown lines, one vertical and one horizontal, divide the page in the middle.

Diamine Prussian Blue on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

Diamine Prussian Blue is a unsaturated blue-black that feels a little on the dry side in a fine nib. It feels fine in a medium nib.

This wasn’t the colour that came to mind when I think of Prussian blue so I was a bit disappointed when I first used it. This colour made me think of old, faded jeans. After using it for a while, I started to enjoy the ink, as long as I no longer think of it as Prussian blue. I also felt it looked especially good when using for sketching.

There is a tiny bit of bleed from the heading but no bleed from the normal writing on this paper. I also do not see any feathering when using Diamine Prussian Blue on this paper.

Van Dieman’s Hailstorm on World Craft Freiheit

Ink

Hailstorm is part of Van Dieman’s Tassie Seasons series, inspired by the colours of each Tasmania’s seasons. This is one of the colours of summer.

This is a green-grey ink. To my eyes, it is more green than grey. This is supposedly the colour of a thunderstorm cloud. I said “supposedly” because hailstorms are rare in Singapore so I don’t know what a hailstorm cloud looks like. I don’t really like this colour but that’s just a personal preference. There is nothing wrong with the ink. It flows well and is easy to clean.

Paper

WORLD CRAFT is a Japanese brand. I am using the Freiheit Freestyle Grid Notepad which is made of smooth, cream paper that holds up well to fountain pens. There is a bit of bleed through at the back but not enough to bleed onto the next page. It is 21cm x 12.8cm, which makes it the same height as A5 but thinner.

The page is marked on front and blank on the back. The front of the page is divided into 5mm grid made up of brown dots. Two thin brown lines, one vertical and one horizontal, divide the page in the middle.
